Why do I Feel So Much Shame?

For many people, shame develops slowly over time through experiences where emotions were dismissed, criticized, or unsafe to express.

Many people carry a persistent sense of shame or feeling “not good enough,” even when they can’t fully explain why. Shame can show up as a quiet belief that something about you is wrong, flawed, or too much for others.

For some people, shame develops after difficult experiences such as trauma, criticism, emotional neglect, or environments where emotions were not safe to express. Over time, these experiences can shape how a person sees themselves and how they respond in relationships.
